About Me

close up

Let me introduce myself:

Condensed Version:  Gabrielle Kristine, a single mom with grown children and young grandchildren, is an active member of the Society of Children’s Writers and Book Illustrators. She has been creating stories for young children for nearly 30 years and loves reading aloud to her grandchildren. “I love to see the spark in a child’s eye when they discover a new or imagined world in the pages of a book.”

Lengthy Version:  For as long as I can remember I have had the desire to write. I finally let go of whatever fear that was holding me back, began to write (with the goal of publication), and I am having a blast. My grandsons love me to make up stories for them and will frequently say “tell me a story about _____.” I decided it was time to start putting those stories to paper. I am in the process of launching my own publishing company and once funds are raised (gofundme.com/mnmpress) I will finally be able to say “I’m a published author.” I look forward to holding my first book in my hands knowing, “my hands/mind created this.”  I also look forward to helping other authors achieve their goals as well.

I have 2 grown children ~ a boy and a girl. I have 3 beautiful grandchildren ~ a girl and two boys. They inspire me. They motivate me. They are my heart. I love them more than words could ever express. I am blessed.

I bake & decorate cakes – mostly for friends and family. I love photography. I attempt to paint. I like to build things. I’ve tried just about every craft out there – scrapbooking, card making, doll making, flower arrangements, primitive signs, jewelry, etc. I am usually playing around with a lot of different things and have a lot of ideas/things I want to try. I love fabric. I love paper. I love supplies. 🙂 I began taking American Tribal Style belly dance lessons in January 2013. I’m in love with the dance, the costumes and the people.

Gabrielle Kristine is a pseudonym I’ve chosen to write & create under.  Why the name Gabrielle Kristine? I’m not trying to hide who I am (or I wouldn’t have my picture posted), but I do have my reasons. The most important reason – I have a granddaughter named Gabby that we have not been given the opportunity to know or be a part of her life. Gabrielle Kristine (Kristine chosen after both my son & I) is the name that my son and Gabby’s mother chose for her when they learned they were having a girl. Although she was ultimately named something different by her mother (Gabrielle is her middle name and she uses the name Gabby), the name Gabrielle Kristine, just as Gabby herself, will always hold a special place in my heart. This is one way I can honor her. I have loved her from the moment I knew she was going to be and I always will. I have her name tattooed on my wrist.20150121_133705-1
